Thread: Wireless dropping out on Oneiric HP netbook

[reposting big wireless issues thread]

hello! hope can me this, because it's being frustrating.

bought new netbook 2 days ago; hp pavilion dm1, , got dual-boot set windows 7 on 1 side , oneiric on other. had lot of problems unity, reverted using classic desktop - that's not problem.

ever since fresh install (i installed , partitioned usb, since have no disc drive), update manager has been popping 298 (or thereabouts) updates need installing. every attempt leads failure, message: failed download package files, check internet connection.

now, wireless indicator telling me have signal, keeps dropping out on internet too; can access @ times after restarting, after while drops out completely, indicator insists i'm still connected. wired in typing on different laptop, , has same issue updates, , internet has dropped out well.

i've been googling around solutions, none of them have worked. tried changing proxy settings , connection settings, checking updates before attempting install (as in thread), , few things drivers on terminal no avail.

i'm sort of @ loose end now, i'd appreciate if point me in right direction?

hi, wireless working first, sort rest 1 bit @ time. please open terminal ctrl+alt+t copy , paste following commands 1 line @ time, paste results here:

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
