4_4 LR4 update corrupts cache?

i've been using lr4 since came out, few problems.  transitioned 64-bit computer (win7) 2 months ago, , few problems had went away.  , then.....(sigh) on april 15, downloaded latest update lr4.  since then, catalog open corrupt cache error within minute of opening - @ time corrupts catalog in use (and of course, it's not repairable).  if knows of way downgrade (and please not "reinstall") please advise.  unusable @ point.

the preview cache?  that's fixed, if that's is.  tell more 'at time corrupts catalog in use'?

 

if it's preview cache, find catalog on hard drive , rename lrdata file before open it.  it'll rebuild cache on demand, , won't show further errors.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
