How to set both dpi and dimensions?

i haven't used illustrator in while, classes, have set image 300dpi , 800x800 px, , can keep 1 or other, how keep both?

my art board 800x800px, i've set doc raster effects settings 300dpi. i've tried searching answer can find solutions 1 or other, i'm suspecting it's simple can't figure out! appreciated! thanks!

the 300ppi (which call dpi/dpi confuse everyone) relevant in connexion raster images/effects, whereas (artboard) size 800x800px (using pixel have defined actual size identical point =  1/72 inch confuse everyone) corresponds size 800x800pt.

 

therefore 2 quite independent: 300ppi may apply artwork of size, whereas 800x800pt size of artboard, again part of workspace.

 

a square measuring 800x800pt rasterized @ 300ppi 3333.3333x3333.3333px (800*300/72).

 

if wish argh, quite understandable.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
