i have ubuntu 11.10 64 bits, 11.04 64 bits i5 2.4 ghz p8h67-m pro using integrated video card.
after upgrade worked included video players.
got saphire 6870 flex, , using free drivers, proprietary , driver amd, video in totem, vlc, gnome player , banshe shows black screen or slow down or after images or sound out of syncro.
starting think reinstall, know last solution.
include info of amd catalyst.

i did fresh install keeping /home.
keeps same behaviour.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
