patriot pcbowau2-n wireless lan usb adapter (usd $15.99 no tax nor shipping costs of 2011-12-30 newegg.) supports 802.11b/g/n modes
- wireless usb lan adapter simple plug&play in ubuntu. hardly believed when read on newegg had usb adapter support linux (without kinds of contortions.)
plugged desktop (with ethernet cable disconnected) , turned on desktop. l-clicked on wireless symbol @ top left corner of screen (looks funnel or fan.) after filling in ssid , security data wireless quick , simple connect. designed caveman install it. (btw using ver 2011.10 gnome desktop)
need negative it? well, there dust-cap provided protect usb port after removing it, there no way keep modem (like example, has no cord attach it, not fit snugly on opposite end of modem, etc.) think dust caps created annoy pack-rats me don't throw away useless , un-needed items. oh - , approx 2/3 size of standard usb thumb drive if 1 of thinks size matters, one's bit petite.
