Thread: if something is Mac compatible, is it more likely to work in Linux?

i thinking other day; if hardware or software mac compatible, more work in linux? since macos , linux both *nix based, think case. can elaborate?

hardware: no.
software: if posix-compatible work on posix, linux , others. otherwise chances thin.

edit: software talking @ source level. os x binary not work on other os x.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
