Thread: Unity destroyed with NIS

my unity gets destroyed after having tried login nis user.
let's up:
have ubuntu 11.10 workstation , users managed nis server , home folder mounted via nfs. now, can't remember having done unusual cannot login nis user , local user gets destroyed unity desktop after login attempt nis user. then, file manager's top bar displayed, no launcher bar, no logout buttons, nothing else.
tried unity --reset, unity --replace in shell nothing helps.
tried
rm -rf $home/.compiz-1
rm -rf $home/.compiz/
rm -rf $home/.config/compiz-1
rm -rf $home/.gconf/apps/compiz-1
rm -rf $home/.gconf/apps/compizconfig-1
rm -rf $home/.cache/compizconfig-1

suggestions? , of course, login unity nis user again! (login via command-line (ctrl-alt-f1) works fine.)

okay, solved myself. there quota limit on nfs share exceeded. deleted files on nfs. now, nis user can log in again. however, still not understand how can have effects on local user account , unity desktop.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
