Thread: Wireless connection problem for Unix-based laptops

i'm having odd problem- wireless slow unix-based operating systems in house.

few days ago, house guests, 1 running mac osx snow leopard, other running win7, commented wireless slow. running win 7 @ time, had no problem.

last night, however, late working in ubuntu 11.10 , wireless speeds hit wall. speedtest.net wouldn't load. sister, running, osx had same problem. go , change wireless password, improve speeds 10 minutes or so. nothing.

after 5th time, having tried changing wireless channel, updating router firmware, , changing password rather strong passwords, ubuntu still running slow. rebooted windows 7, , voila, full wireless speed.

wireless security wpa2-aes
router netgear wnda 3400

i had similar problem. setting static ip addresses helped in case. try giving ubuntu machine 1 on router.
