Importing a few photos at a time from iPhoto

i have been using iphoto , have filled laptop's memory.  want transfer photos (because have many shot in raw) adobe photshop elements 10.  how impost 1 event (from iphoto) @ time photshop?  unable transfer entire library.

did want import whole library? happened when tried?

 

to photos, export them iphoto desktop, put copies want keep them, , use photos>frrom files , folders.
