Text within an image on Microsoft Word stretching when exporting to PDF

i'm having problem when converting word document pdf... there image within document appears png; graph has text images. when export pdf, stretches font. know why happens? due embedding fonts? how can stop it?

if select adobe pdf printer in print menu of word , review doc file, how look? appears not embedding fonts (check font embedding @ ctrl-d).

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
