i have situation have 2 systems both running xubuntu 11.10. cpus differ. 1 fast phenom x4 am2+ while other not quite fast athlon ii x3 am3+. memory in first ddr2 1066 , second has ddr3 1333. love able compare 2 see of them more powerful overall system. in old days run pcmag's benchmarking tools under windows comparison under ubuntu/linux having difficulty finding tools compare. have found old software not date.

have suggestions?

phoronix test suite should you. there's bit of confusing range of tests available, want test cpu, ram, i/o , graphics.

it's in repos.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
