Thread: Disable USB autosuspend entirely for KVM support?

hi folks,

i've bought belkin switch2 usb/dvi-d/sound kvm switch between laptop , desktop (both 11.10) seems work except following... when left while keyboard , mouse stop working completely, ie they're powered down, no mouse/caps/numlock lights etc. no movement/clicks/keystrokes make them work , nor restarting pc, restarting kvm will, , immediately.

research has lead me suspect because kernel disables usb autosuspend individual usb devices (as few support this) enables usb autosuspend hubs (most of support this). kvm has 1 usb plug, keyboard , mouse each plugging kvm, seems logical assume working hub. both devices powered down in state seems logical assume whole kit , kaboodle has been autosuspended , not support waking. perhaps machine has sent "suspend" command kvm powers down , doesn't respond wake-up calls.

so.... how disable usb autosuspending usb devices, including usb hubs? or 1 specifically?

also, if has educated comment on likelihood of being problem, or of other possible explanation, please chime in!
