Thread: external mouse causing major problems
currently running - ubuntu 11.10 amd64 bit
model - hp pavillion g6-1c58dx
please help! stops working when have usb mouse plugged in!
if 1 plugged in while starting up, splash , login screen not show unless press power button. once does, freezes after few seconds. if boot without 1 plugged in work fine.
if plug 1 in after logging in, not work, (track pad works fine tho) , not recognize other type of usb devices after that, , ubuntu freeze after minute. (it no matter usb port plugged in to.)
usb flash drive , usb hard drive on other hand, work fine , boots , works fine if plugged in before or after startup regardless of usb port plugged into.
tried couple different usb mice (both wierd , wierless) , usb storage devices , have these problems when usb mouse plugged in of ports. (those mice work fine on other laptop running ubuntu 11.04-64bit, laptop sucks lot more compared new one.)
got new laptop week , installed ubuntu 11.10 operating system.
after fixing initial issues , getting set up, installing themes replace annoying, , super bright default ones. logged out, in, , working fine. rebooted make sure didnt screw up. working fine after that.
after interneting while, logged out, , froze after being on splash screen few seconds, had hold power button shut off.
after booting moved usb mouse on click on user name , stopped moving after split second (because ubuntu froze) had reboot. after when started giving me problem.
ran fsdisk , removed broken packages, , updated 1 more time, rebooted several more times, none of has worked.
couldnt find else same issue
lost , dont know start. audio , video editing using track pad more time consuming , annoying me.
have till jan 13th return laptop i'd rather not since else works, cant afford better, , finding decent new laptop plays linux seems hard do.
if can me grateful!
the mouse working fine until today, dont know problem be...
