Thread: iPod Nano 4G no longer visible in Rhythmbox

hello. have ipod nano until today synced ubuntu pc via rhythmbox. acquired ipod touch (software version 4.2.1) , spent few hours trying ubuntu pc see that, without success. following instructions in various forum threads, installed libimobiledevice1 , libimobiledevice1-dbg , fiddled around packages in area. libimobiledevice1-dbg not installed because tried uninstalling @ 1 stage, wouldn't let me reinstall it, saying:

"e: /var/cache/apt/archives/libimobiledevice1-dbg_1.0.6-1ubuntu1~lucid3_i386.deb: trying overwrite '/usr/lib/debug/usr/lib/pyshared/python2.6/imobiledevice/_imobiledevice.so', in package libimobiledevice0-dbg 0"

meeting no success ipod touch using of suggested methods, gave , went nano, find horror rhythmbox no longer see it. doubtless consequence of other changes made trying touch visible.

happens when connect nano automatically mounts storage , opens nautilus window showing contents. neither rhythmbox nor banshee can see it.

grateful advice can offer how ubuntu talking nano again.

system ubuntu 10.04 lts 32 bit, using rhythmbox 0.12.8.
nano 4th gen 8gb.

well know?! used synaptic remove rhythmbox , reinstalled it, , see nano again.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
