Thread: Sending Picasa Pictures via Email using Thunderbird

newbie running 11.10 (with gnome classic desktop), picasa 3.9.0 (build 135.8000, 0) linux , thunderbird 8.0. trying action feature in picasa send pictures 3rd party via email - @ bottom of picasa screen there email button enable this. if try this, instead of thunderbird opening email send, picture attached, (thunderbird) window pops says an error occurred while creating message compose window. please try again. have found bug reference on launchpad 'google' work-around @ http://www.ubuntugeek.com/mailing-ph...derbird-3.html. put work-around in place , @ same time upgraded picasa version 3.9 via these instructions http://askubuntu.com/questions/86452...all-picasa-3-9. support mother-in-laws machine via remote desktop session , have, far can, maintained duplicate install of machine on mine in virtualbox. (i run 10.10 use virtualbox give me 11.10 environment). installed work-around , upgrade (3.9) on virtualbox 11.10 system found worked dream, can automatically send picture email attachment via thunderbird clicking on email icon @ bottom of picasa screen. thing – having got working in virtunal box machine not work on mother-in-laws machine - , not know why. on machine, clicking on picasa email button launches thunderbird email send picture not attached; on machine thunderbird send mail window picture there attachment. have checked version numbers , config settings on both machines , identical. both machines have same repos/servers , up-to-date / upgraded. works on virtualbox machine not hers ???? advise on else check appreciated.

just installed thunderbird 8 , picasa 3.9.0 (builds 135.8000 , 135.8100) onto winxp side , work - on linux side not quite right. strange because work per original post - cannot replicated no matter do.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
