Thread: ubuntu-tweak janitor - what does this do?

hi everybody.
i've installed ubuntu-tweak , i'm looking @ new janitor feature. lot of people seem happy feature, don't understand what's going on. it's listing 500 mb of stuff clean.

300 mb "apt-cache" 200 mb of "old-kernel" few other things. apt-cache lists lot of .deb files of programs use.

need these files , "janitor" doing when cleans --just deleting, assume?

can explain me "apt-cache", "thumbnail cache" , "old-kernel" are?

obviously, i'm bit of newbie @ ubuntu, know what's going on. thoughts have.

apt-cache actual lists both of software repositories , packages in repositories. clearing out old cache files won't harm. if run

code:
sudo apt-cache gencaches sudo apt-get update
i don't think have worry about.

old-kernel sounds like- old kernel versions. you've apparently upgraded kernel @ least once. unless keep old kernels development or bug tracking can have janitor delete them.
