i'm sure noob question. need installing x11vnc. i've done on several servers, 1 particular machine has older copy of ubuntu, , when this:

sudo apt-get install x11vnc

this:

there way can specify proper location download x11vnc in installation command line? have install on large number of machines various ubuntu versions , i'd prefer have "silver bullet", speak, work in cases. i'm not administrator of these machines , i'm afraid of updating global package servers due possibility of unforeseen consequences. thx.

ubuntu 9.10 karmic koala reached end of life in april last year, that's why stored repo server urls aren't valid anymore:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/releases

"recommended" way solve upgrade (fresh install) particular machine current ubuntu version, of course.

if may not or don't want risk upgrade, replace invalid repo urls in "/etc/apt/sources.list" old releases server, this:
