Problems with LR2.7 opening image in PS CS6

in lr 2.7 select image , select edit in ps cs6 comes message "the file not edited because cs6 not launched" launches cs6 not image.  has come message "win32 api error 1223 ("the operation cancelled user") when calling shellexecuteexw agworkspace.shellexecute".  mean, didn't cancel operation.  don't understand how lr , ps working okay until few weeks ago , started doing this.  have uninstalled cs6 , re-installed , still problem there.  can before start tearing hair out.  many thanks.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
