Thread: Cannot get linux to dual boot again
hello,
whelp decided upgrade computer mobo processor ram vidcard etc except hdd's. prior hardware upgrade had computer dual booting windows 7 , ubuntu 11.10 grub2 no issues each os being on own separate hdd. friends suggestion, no formatting or preparation needed when upgrading hardware (last tim ei changed motherboards had format told no longer case new chipsets) put in new goods , fired up. sure enough

said ok maybe need reinstall grub , did so... did not solve issue
ok guess ill format linux drive , reinstall... did not solve issue
lets see if can @ least recover mbr windows... file not found cant boot or fix mbr windows
ok maybe need format both os hard drives , reinstall windows must install first... istalled windows , boots windows.

, mbr screwed again @ square 1. as tried manually configure grub , install , try booting different disks , trying install grub on different disks cannot fix issue. tried manually set boot partition , root linux no resolution. im thinking maybe cheap asrock mobo put in doesnt have bios capabilities handle grub dual boot? dont see being true...
@ point if boot windows drive get:
hd1 out of disk
if boot linux drive get
hd0 out of disk
possibly have 2 different grub installs messing up? dont understand how can since formatted linux drive 12 times , reinstalled linux trying different methods...
read system config txt script , can run , post if interpreting issue (right im on laptop)
please ubuntu forums! linux school runs on , programming done on linux.
my mother board asrock a770de+ phenom ii x4 bios latest (1.70 believe) , settings think of in bios set right. tried default configuration...
