Thread: file trasfer with usb stick is very slow

hello,

have 64bit ubuntu 10.04. lts lucid lynx, gnome version 2.30.2.
(to more specific: linux ubuntu 2.6.32-33-generic #72-ubuntu smp fri jul 29 21:07:13 utc 2011 x86_64 gnu/linux).

problem transfering big files to/from usb stick. transfer speed started 35 mb/sec , fall down 5mb/sec. , tooks 4 min transfer 1 1,4 gb file.

when tried on same machine in windows, it's fast (less 1 minute).

have idea? wrong?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
