Thread: Formatting Bootable USB
so i've got 8gb verbatim usb device intending boot chrome os from. before needed format it. disk utility , attempt format 'fat' (v32 presume) gives me error message.
error creating file system: helper exited exit code 1: helper failed with: total number of sectors (4005856) not multiple of sectors per track (62)! add mtools_skip_check=1 .mtoolsrc file skip test mkfs.vfat 3.0.9 (31 jan 2010)
create fat partition of 2.1gb. leaving remaining 5.9 empty space. i've tried locating '.mtoolsrc' can't find it? furthermore have format fat or linux file system ext*?
could install gparted
and try using that?code:sudo apt-get install gparted
fat32 compatible windows , linux file systems ideal choice.
