Thread: Migrated to new hardware, now system will only boot through recovermode > resume

last week, motherboard decided eat ram. prompted me pick new hardware. went amd cpu intel, , nvidia card nvidia card. issue (which had once before, never fixed) system not boot normally. system boot, have enter recovery mode, , hit resume. that's it; works expected after that.

know causing this, and/or how fix it? i'm guessing has bootsplash, gets skipped when enter recovery mode.

it should easy verify theory removing "quiet splash" in /etc/default/grub , running

sudo update-grub

after that.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
