Thread: My resolution is messed up

hi,
monitor cable bit damaged , wouldn't show right colors @ times, had buy new vga male-to-male cable lcd monitor.
went on amazon , had these $5 - got cheapest 1 "hi-res" one, don't know means though. fits sockets.
when boot kubuntu or ubuntu display @ low resolution. it's @ highest possible one, there's no way change it. grub menu @ lower resolution before, , it's bright blue instead of light blue.
works fine in windows, lags , horrible ... wait, no, existing problem!
edit: looked , saw it's hd15 vga cable, if makes difference!

edit:
when remove nvidia driver use, can 1024x768, not resolution need. when put nvidia settings says have crt , can go 640x480

today tried ubuntu experimental nvidia support drivers. 1024x768 terrible on screen! nvidia still thinks screen crt, perhaps that's before when did have crt monitor.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
