Thread: NOOB status: Configure wireless card for Ubuntu 11.10

i'm new linux , i've been playing around 2 days. i've picked on things pretty quick, can't seem understand how install appropriate drivers wireless card i've installed.

proprietary drivers installed , have slow web browsing performance. appropriate fix? installing drivers meant wireless card (intel centrino 6230) or proprietary drivers enough else slowing web performance?

dad running quick on windows 7 i'm slower since i've switched.

record, i've been www.intellinuxwireless.org , found specific drivers card, i'm unsure of how install tar.gz files. supposed use terminal? if so, how (if provide me instructional website)?

http://www.tuxfiles.org/linuxhelp/softinstall.html i'm guessing you'll need do. if enter command "configure" in , shell spits error, try going next step (make). drivers come without configure script. also, before anything, make sure take @ readme , post if doesn't make sense. drivers require change options in files before installing.
