Thread: Package Manager Crashes

little bit of background:

installed kubuntu 11.04 on netbook, booted up, loaded package manager updates (using ethernet connection), after while realized package manager had frozen turned machine off. rebooted , have error message on boot , error after kde loads.

says "warning: cannot open consolekit session: unable open session: permission of setuid helper not correct" before kde loads , says "the audio playback device hda intel (alc269 analog) not work. falling to." when kde loads up.

installed kubuntu 11.04 on pc, booted up, loaded package manager updates (on wireless) same thing happened above , after rebooting wireless unavailable , couldn't come (not understand i'm doing.) error message relating audio different code on pc, presumably different hardware.

thought never mind, burned 11.10 , have installed on pc muon package manager has been stuck on "running dpkg" half hour hour , i'm getting annoyed because same problem third time in 2 days.

ran kubuntu 11.04 , 11.10 on netbook 6 months before had reinstall, i've had multiple problems never package manager i'm @ loss why has started , it. i'm going ;leave pc on overnight bed time me don't think going sort out if reboot mess has last 2 times.

have ideas or info please, i've googled can't seem find need.


add, i've clicked on start menu (for want of better name) , when click on applications offered system, under there isn't anything. loaded dolphin , there no folders showing in of directories either.

try running updates terminal.

and

sudo apt-get upgrade

you should see update description, type y , press enter proceed.

after update, should not have problem using muon package manager.
