Thread: Panel 2 Alpha disabled and clock shenanigans

hi, i've installed xubuntu in old laptop revive (one of faulty presario f700 rubbish nvidia chip), , it's doing fine... what's problem? well, logged out , in, felt curious , selected "xfce" instead of "xubuntu" in list below; no problem, logged out again. however, next time logged xubuntu, panel 2 solid black instead of translucent. when go panel/preferences/appearance, alpha "disabled" (it won't show no matter do). happened in virtual machine in desktop, did load snapshot.

problem have clock... after installed xubuntu, time set jan 1 2011 00:00 , can't seem change/update it.

please, if me these, that'd nice.

i noticed bug too, bug present in xubuntu 12.10 also

if logged in xubuntu session, logged out , in xfce session , xubuntu, transparency gone

can re-enable transparency in xubuntu session

go settings > window manager tweaks > compositor tick "enable display compositing" after alpha option selectable.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
