Thread: segmentation fault error

hi, running code on system 12 cores, , 48gb of ram. ubuntu 10.10.

code has run ok many times. code reads, depending on input files, data libraries describing different materials properties used in simulation. have run same input file changing (increasing) number of materials used in simulation, , beyond limit, "segmentation fault error" comes screen while code being executed. apparently amount of memory code using 100% of available memory.

swapping memory available code used, or code runs using physical memory?.

there way assign code space of "virtual memory" in windows systems, or should increase swap disk size in order let code access more memory?

suggestions?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
