Thread: Where are sane and xsane logs kept?

where can check error messages created either sane or xsane scanner software?

problem this:

have epson stylus photo px710w all-in-one scanner/printer, connected network via ethernet cable.

have laptop(works great) , new pc, i'm setting , has new install of ubuntu.

both running 10.04 lucid, 64 bit versions.

i've installed same versions of iscan on both machines (i backed install debs, etc. when first got printer working on laptop, on year ago).

printer part works on both laptop , pc no problems @ all.

i've got firewall on problem pc switch off while i'm trying things work.

scanner part works laptop, fails pc. scanner moves slightly, sounds if it's going work, fails, xsane reporting 'error during read: error during i/o', @ point epson flashes it's light in error state , locks until switched off.

got ideas, of how can compare 2 machines or check logs on both, etc.

in advance.

andy

i didn't think difficult question.
