What happens when I convert a file to a pdf?

i'm trying figure out happens logos embedded in indesign files when convert files pdf. logos converted jpgs? or remain vector files? here's issue: have illustrator logos embedded indesign files (all cs6). exporting indesign files pdfs. , logos looking fuzzy. why? vector files. don't it. there way control how images exported? guess don't understand conversion process enough know right question ask is. advice appreciated. thank you.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
