fsockopen to cURL

so trying make script check if server online, made using fsockopen, host not open port need check cannot use fsockopen. there way convert fsockopen script use curl instead?

so figured out how check website curl:

but possible curl check different port? if making gaming site gaming server games run on other ports such 25565, 2290, 24147, etc.
