Thread: Compaq Armada110. New lease of life...Almost. Help!

hello all

have been attempting compaq armada 110 laptop going again.

had had windows xp installed, ne, year ago wifes step dad. till had been working ok reinstall hasn't helped , having checked out few areas seems small hdd being packed solid bloat can't cope.

turn trusty ubuntu/linux os. have been windows free 4 years

xubuntu chosen , xfce front. install went linux install on booting xubuntu splash screen screen goes blank.

little bit of 'play' managed boot recovery mode , using 'run low graphics' option had desktop , running. pleasing fact belkin wireless adapter plugged in lap top working straight off bat.

have tried couple of fixes xorg.conf, seen on forum, unless boot recovery mode end blank screen.

has got definitive idea of how have laptop boot properly?

gpu -

graphics controller- trident cyberblade i7 shared video memory (uma)

mechanically laptop seems robust , work well, , faster windows, barring slight issue.

does xorg trident driver load? clues should in xorg log.
