ok, here's want. perfect desktop environment...

1. unity top panel, unchanged.
2. gnome shell, no dash.
3. gnome 2 style panel @ bottom window list.

go!

yes yes know, there's not enough kung-fu in world right now... there way under unity kill dash , add gnome 2 panel whilst leaving unity top panel intact? that'd close enough me, now. i've found few similar threads nothing specifically.

easiest solution can think of:

alternate menuplus launcher @ bottom

thing can't work out how rid of default dash icon , replace cardapio icon (or maybe configure classicmenu have larger icon on left of unity bar (like 11.04)?)

if wanted go little further, suppose myunity change dimensions etc. of launcher liking.

should check around here see if there's else you'd changed.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
