Thread: Help install Ubuntu on iBook G3 dual USB

alright, bought apple ibook g3 dual usb powerpc g3 processor @ 500mhz. got 64mb. on-board ram w/ 128mb. stick.

i've got running mac 10.4.11 tiger. know can run older ubuntu on machine. i'd prefer dual-boot both oss.

i've got i386 install disk of 8.04 lts i've used on many pc.

i'm sure sounds noob like, won't boot it, , i've got ubuntu mini installer uses internet download, don't know networking , have use wifi despite trying can't seem connected.

dual-boot them, using ubuntu install disk isn't text based.

i've researched , researched, i've found 1 video of guy doing it, instructions really horrible.

hello,

machine powerpc. i386 cd not work. ppc , x86 2 different architectures.

plain ubuntu slow on machine. try ppc lubuntu, rsavage has excellent guide posted on installing found here. may interested in mintppc.

however, 192mb of ram not lot. 128mb minimum ram needed both mintppc , ppc lubuntu.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
