Thread: Installing Ubuntu with Wubi.

hi all, new forum , ubuntu, apologise if in wrong place, stuck between , general help, figured better place.

getting new netbook around tuesday, , thought idea have play around on ubuntu before install on netbook have rough idea how works.

however, have downloaded , ran wubi on vista desktop, , received error ioerror: [errno 13] permission denied: 'i:\\wubildr' after looking on google found out because of card reader (and nothing being in slot) , ubuntu have installed correctly. fantastic!

shut down computer, , turn on again boot ubuntu, straight away ubuntu trys load, without me getting option choose between vista , itself. after few seconds message

force shutdown there nothing do, , reboot, time option launch ubuntu, along vista, receive same error if try.

i've tried reinstalling via wubi multiple times , same process happens each time, i've done chkdsk no dice. i've read many threads on here initramfs problem i've lost count!

help?

yup, in same boat . , i'll post useful responses well! tried installing cd , usb, same thing.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
