Thread: Partitioning and volume manage question

i using 10.04 server version , not using lvm. existing system partition big , there isnt data in partition. how shrink partition without losing data , free space , create new partition freed space?

there veritas volume manager , netbackup (now taken on symantec) available ubuntu try @ home in lab? or need purchase license?

the easiest method in opinion use live cd. want backup system first in case problems occur.

boot live cd use partition manager (gparted) resize partition. can create new partitions @ point. when reboot, can mount new partitions liking.
