Thread: Unity Wallpaper not changing

hi,

have searched , checked following issue unable find resolution. in case, missed one, apologize re-posting question - please point me right direction, thanks.

installed/upgraded ubuntu 11.10, activated 2d, appears working fine , sure (though still learning way around). have 3 user setup, 1 admin user , others standard user.

here issue: 1 of standard user's wallpaper changes automatically (at first didn't know possible) however, other 2 users (admin , 2nd. standard user) don't have option available. these 2 users don't have contest button available @ all. have checked (enclosed) background-1.xml both , little knowledge found no difference; except 'contest' button not available 1 named 'not-working-background-1.xml' attaching 2 files named: working... , not-working... plus screenshot of appearance window. hope, not wrong assume python installed system since appearance app working in @ least 1 log-in. way, both of these files located in respective folder "usr/share/backgrounds/contest". changed name here clarification purpose , no actual changes made either content or name of file.

advice, help, guidance , time appreciated.

first thing should know, there 1 background-1.xml script because found in /usr/share/backgrounds/contest in file system , not in each user's home folder. why seems 2 files identical. same file being looked @ different usr's home folder.

second, screenshot has not appeared in post. so, cannot see mean contest button.

have 2 users on system. 1 administrator , 1 standard , can select background slide show option (icon of background image little clock superimposed) in either user account. not know mean when say:

these 2 users don't have contest button available @ all.

i have being doing experiment see if can replicate problem takes 30 minutes each background change slow experiment.

have found in administrator account not matter if 3d or 2d slide show works. trying find out if slide shows works in standard user's account in either 3d or 2d or both.
