Do I need to export photos from Lightroom 4 before placing in InDesign CS6?

i'm doing print photo book layout in indesign using photos processing in lightroom 4 & photoshop cs6. question is, need "file > export" files lightroom before placing them indesign? or lightroom final changes make embedded in .tif file?

if images rendered (tiffs, jpegs etc) no. you'll need know location on drive link or embed them indesign. lr makes easy (show in finder). if raws, yes, need export have yet not been rendered.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
