Thread: getting started with mysql

okay...no programming experience....i've heard of sql i've heard (think techie conversations non-tech) scares me. preparing set multiple databases use across home network include cloud/remote storage , remote access.

i've done first step (i think) both mysql client & server installed on machine....(using software center). take baby steps in planning on playing krecipes set , import, export etc. (this 1 of projects need done...the recipe stuff so...) after installing i'm stuck...can't access @ all. cheat , use db stored in local file isn't long term solution.

search through documentation older , either geared toward specific application or on how compile install. there easy how going?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
