Thread: How do I get 32 bit color with Ubuntu 11.1 and Nvidia 560 card?
i trying 32 bit color work ubuntu 11.10 64bit. have nvidia gtx 560 card. nvidia x server says using driver 280.13 , doesn't show anyway change 24 bit color 32 bit color depth. there anyway it? manually installing newer 290.1 driver nvidia work?
you using correct color mode. though windows likes refer "32-bit colors", it's 24 bits, 8 bits each of 3 color channels.
actual 32-bit images include additional 8 bits alpha channel (transparency) wouldn't make sense when talking display color since display isn't transparent...
in other words, there no such thing 32-bit display color mode. it's 24 bits or less. (and lucky if display handles much, tn panels don't...) or if happen have workstation graphics card , high-end professional display, might have 30-bit color mode (10 bits each 3 color channels). don't, you'd know if had one, having paid several thousands such hardware...
