Thread: Kgpg - messed up install
having problems running , using kgpg after not using ages, couple of years, couple of kernel upgrades etc , dont want overwrite keyrings etc...
kgpg wont start menu, have invoke terminal... if start without sudo (ie kgpg -k) cant access keyring.
if start root, spits out complaints various folders , files in var/temp folder being
error: "/var/tmp/kdecache-rory" owned uid 1000 instead of uid 0 - can access keyring, , encrypt/decrypt.
ive tried figure out, permissions, , not running kde apps root, should export keys, de-install, clean , re-install, , me permissions correctly set ? or need install kdesudo ?
ubuntu 11.10
kgpg 2.6.2
kde 4.7.3

i found out how fix this. having same issue , able locate desktop file make minor change needed start program icon.
go to:
/usr/share/applications/kde4
edit file:
kgpg.desktop
beginning looks this:
[desktop entry]
type=application
exec=kgpg %u
icon=kgpg
x-docpath=kgpg/index.html
edit line:
exec=kgpg %u
this:
exec=kgpg %u -k
working. @ least did me. can launch launcher panel without having go command line , errors , not work right either.
worked after removing , installing again , installing gnupg-agent.
hope works you.
