all,

have netbook 150 gb hard drive. install 2 or maybe 3 operating systems. have been reading on how partition drive, confused; if make 2 partitions , install 2 versions of ubuntu boot protocols confined partition install them to?

no, boot manager of 1 control booting of other , additional os's installed. example, have ubuntu , arch installed on mine. grub2 installation on ubuntu controls booting of both. if install more os's, still use ubuntu's grub2 manage booting.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
