dear ubuntu community!

3 years ago bought toshiba qosmio x500-10v pqx33e laptop wanted have desktop replacement. doing lot of photo , video editing on (on windows).

new situation came up: had install linux distribution on system. mention it: have linux knowledge , working debian system @ home.

wanted boot live-cd, after booting while showed funny lines on screen. link

have tried several linux distros (ubuntu, debian, gentoo live, parted magic) none of them working - showing stripes.

in opinion has graphic card, nvidia geforce gts250m. should now?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
