Where to get codecs for Premiere Elements?

i bought premiere elements 11 , edit video produced screen capture program. capture program called bandicam, , according vlc video player, video codec "mpeg 1/2". actual file type avi. when try import file, premiere elements says file type not supported, , codec missing. thing is, able use these same files in windows movie maker without problem. how around issue? in advance help!

weird software. have camtasia things , once install codec, camtasia-generated-file plays fine in windows media player, , hence in premiere elements. one, after installing codec, not able playback in windows media player. have tried on 64-bit windows laptop well. no luck.

 

are able play in windows media player?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
