Bridge won't open

i have cs6 on mac , have had since offered no problems.  today won't open , message should purge cache in preferences.  doing that, keeps cranking away , nothing happens.  stuck there.  force quit doesn't indicate problem.

try this.

 

quit bridge, user library (not system , root library) preferences folder find , delete bridge5.plist file manual. in same user library caches folder (caches/adobe/bridge cs6) , in here find , folder called 'cache' , drag trash.

 

restart bridge holding down option key , choose reset preferences, try again.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
