Dowloading Flashplayer Not Working

i have tried downloading new version of flashplayer repeatedly , still not work.  tried clean install following steps , still won't load.  every time download new flashplayer "successfully" , go open video, tells me need download newest version of flashplayer.  have attempted 15 times , still not working.  have restarted computer multiple times hoping , delays anger @ not getting work.  right now, have uninstalled flashplayer, restarted computer, , made sure files gone.  doing wrong?  , do?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
