grainy when elements converts raw to psd file in editor.

hello,

im having trouble elements 11.  bring file in lightroom , convert pds (though have tried tiff too).  whenever elements editor, grainy , not sharp @ all.  image on left (is in editor) right lightroom.  also, if bring raw file raw file editor of elements, fine, second "open" in editor psd, quality turns horrible.  help!

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
