Thread: automatically unmount CDs?

unless i'm misremembering, when first installed ubuntu (11.10) on computer, hit eject button on optical drives (2x hp dvd-rw drives) , disc eject. i'm finding can't that. instead have manually unmount volume, using, e.g.,
code:
sudo umount /dev/sr1
, , can eject disc no problem. there way can unmount disc automatically when press eject button?
