Thread: Choosing a compact PC

i need replace laptop, , since not need take anywhere buy desktop pc, can bigger screen. @ same time, space on desk limited, want buy compact pc. can me choose 1 works ubuntu , gnome shell in particular?

requirements are
  • decent processor - avoid atom box
  • at least 4gb of ram
  • nvidia video card, since far know ati has pretty big issues gnome shell


if wa not video card, buy dell inspiron zino. other ideas?

have though getting laptop, plugging bigger monitor? way can still have portability if need it.

looking @ acer aspire timelinex as3830t-6689. 13.3 inches (very small , light), has i5 processor. appeals me because can chill out on couch it, or plug 24" monitor work.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
