Thread: Desktop freezing

i having problem desktop freezing, , becoming pixelated, happens after turning on computer. have tried swapping out ram , graphics card, booting live cd , still same problems. leaves processor , motherboard. how test , new parts should get.

amd phonem 2 dual core
3 gb of ddr2 4200rpm ram
nividia 8500 graphics card
ubuntu 11.10

have tried running disk utility see if have hard drive failing, there before going further.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
