Thread: dpkg fails with error

whenever apt-get upgrade error @ end:

code:
removing latex-cjk-chinese ...  running 'mktexlsr /usr/share/texmf /var/lib/texmf'.  may take time... done.  building format(s) --byhyphen language.dat. may take time...  fmtutil-sys failed. output has been stored in  /tmp/fmtutil.ysecywch  please include file if report bug.    dpkg: error processing latex-cjk-chinese (--remove):   subprocess installed post-removal script returned error exit status 1  errors encountered while processing:   latex-cjk-chinese  e: sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned error code (1)
i've tried remove latex-cjk-chinese fails same error.

pointers gratefully received.

[solved] update-manager indicated upgrade 9.04 9.10 (first step towards 10.04) partial. after completed upgrade, problem went away. [/solved]

code:
fmtutil-sys failed. output has been stored in /tmp/fmtutil.ysecywch
the log tells it's put output of failed process. what's in file?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
